Evaluation Draft 1

Evaluation Question 1:

The title of my magazine is 'ALT' which is short for Alternative, the genre of music, so the target audience that is people who listen to alternate music and teenagers can quickly see what the magazine is going to be about. I used the font called 'Impact' to make the title stand out from other magazines and also so its visible to everyone and attracting people to magazine. The colour scheme i used is black white and some grey i did this because i wanted to give the music magazine a simplistic look, i also dressed my artist with a simple look where all you can see is the white top that she is wearing in all the photos. The text I have used on the front page apart from the title are simple fonts (Wicker Heavy SF, Accord SF) to keep the simple theme involved in the magazine they are also good fonts that link in with the artist and give her an even more of a simplistic but satisfying look and i have continued these fonts through to the contents page of my magazine. I changed the font of the article to 'Utsaah' to add more verity to the magazine and the font also keeps the simplicity involved in the magazine i also changed the colour of the text when millie was talking in the interview so you can tell the difference between the interviewers question and what her answers are.

I have laid out my front page so there is little on the front to keep to the simplistic look the way i have done this is by placing the name of the magazine at the top left in a large font 'Impact' to make the magazine stand out and noticeable and i have also made the featured artists name 'Millie Drew' large and centred so thats one of the first things you see when picking up the magazine but kept the artist name in a small simple font to mach here genre of music. the barcode and pricing are at the bottom right  where they normally are on most objects and magazines and the 'Issue Number' is at the bottom left so that more attention is drawn to the top half of the magazine. The magazines slogan 'New Bands Great Music' is in small underneath the title to allow you to recognise its a music magazine and also so that you get a feel of whats going to in the magazine when you open it.
The contents page is laid out with the text on the left and featured artist on the right, i got this idea from the existing magazine 'Spin'. The reason i used this was because the layout fitted the style of the magazine and genre of my artist allowing me to make the image of my artist stand out more.
The double page spread is laid out in a way so it focuses on my featured artist, i started the text at the bottom left of the page and didn't go above her eye line as well i placed part of her name behind her so that you got the feel she was important and meant more than words on a page. I also placed a quote from the artist part way through the article so you got a better feel of how she felt about the artist.

I didn't use any props in my magazine because i didn't feel it was essential and that it wouldn't improve how i showed my artist in any way or the genre of the magazine. I thought that i would be able to show my artist and the style of the magazine just with the camera angles and pictures of the artist and the fonts and colours used in my magazine. I represented my artist with the simple look of her just wearing a plain white shirt and her standing with a serious face positioned differently each time but at the same time keeping the same feel for the artist and genre.
